Product Review – MyHummy

What is the one thing that every new parent craves more than anything? You’ve guessed it…sleep! It’s the one thing that has us tearing our hair out and sending us into meltdown. Trying to survive on little sleep can be challenging, especially whilst trying to take care of a demanding baby, who really couldn’t care less if you are tired or not. I was convinced that there was nothing that could be done to preserve sleep with a newborn baby, but I was very much mistaken! My partner and I decided to try the MyHummy in a hope that it would make a difference. I was extremely sceptical at first…

2017 – The Good, The Bad and the Mentally Disturbing

Follow my blog with Bloglovin So we are coming to the end of another year. What a year it’s been. So many highs and far too many lows. I’ve never experienced a year with so many changes. My life has completely been turned upside down, shook up until it’s dizzy and then kicked in the balls for good measure. Life Changing News We start in January, and I began the year with an easy one. I was given the news that I was HAVING A BABY!! Not so easy then. I completely bricked my pants and thought that I’d basically ruined my life. It wasn’t that bad thankfully.…

Why Is My Baby Always Crying?

When you are a new parent and you bring home your brand new baby, you would expect that it’s all fun and games from here on in. You’ll be spending your days playing with them and making so many beautiful memories. Wrong. Being a parent is bloody hard work and it’s not always going to be as glamorous as first expected. There’s going to be times when you doubt yourself and times when being a parent is just too much to cope with. I’ve been through these feelings all in the first 3 months of my little boy being born. With Austin, we have been faced with so many problems.…

Product Review – Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine

Tommee Tippee perfect bottle prep machine…or as I like to call it, the clueless dad’s heavenly machine from the gods. I think my name has a much better ring to it don’t you think. This machine has been a life saver for me personally. As a first time dad who was pretty useless when it came to making bottles, this beautiful creation was a machine sent down from the heavens and I couldn’t have managed without it. I will point out that this post is not sponsored and is a completely unbiased review. What does it do? The Tommee Tippee perfect bottle prep machine is designed to make the bottle…

Why Being A Dad Is So Important To Me

Most guys have life ambitions such as having the flashiest cars, the biggest houses or getting that dream job that they’ve always wanted. These ambitions are great if you can achieve them, but that’s never been my goal in life. My life ambition is to be a good father and to raise my own family. Family has always been the most important thing to me. Materialistic objects are great and can bring a lot of joy into people’s lives, but it would never fully satisfy me. To really be happy, I wanted to have my own family. The start of this dream happened on the 19th September when Austin David…

Paternity Leave – Are Dad’s Off Work For Long Enough?

Paternity leave. This is the time that most Dad’s really look forward to. You have a newborn baby, brand spanking new and it’s time to get stuck in to fatherhood. My question is however, is 2 weeks enough time? How much can you really bond with your baby in 14 days? I’m currently 4 weeks into my 6 weeks off with my newborn baby. You may be thinking…you’ve had 4 weeks off work and you are writing a post about how unfair paternity leave is. The truth is, I’ve had to use all of my holidays and 3 weeks of unpaid leave to get that. This is no fault of…

    What Shocked Me About Fatherhood

Fatherhood. I thought it was going to be all fun and games. Spending hours playing peek-a-boo and singing lullabies. Standing over a moses basket whilst my baby slept peacefully. The reality however, was very different. There was definitely some false advertising somewhere along the line because being a parent is bloody hard work. Nothing like what I expected at all. Somebody should really suggest teaching this sort of stuff in schools so that everybody is aware of what they are getting themselves into. I bet that would reduce the amount of teenage pregnancies. Get rid of subjects like Design Tech and Religious Education and replace them with ‘What parenting is…

Welcome to the world…Austin David Yule

So the little guy had been baking away inside the womb for 9 very long months. 9 months that have provided tears, pain, fear and apprehension, and that was just from me! We’d spent hours in parenting classes, hundreds of pounds on baby gear and thousands of moments thinking about how amazing it will be when he arrives. Amy was due to be induced on Monday 25th September, the date was booked. We were convinced this would be the day. Our son, however, had other ideas. Just like his mum, he does things on his terms and waits for nobody’s permission. I had gone to work as normal on Tuesday…

How To Survive Being The Only Guy In The Workplace

In March 2017 I decided that it was time for a career change. I knew that I wanted to work with children (yes really), but I had no clue what I would be good at. I’d tried working with older children but they’ve too much attitude and they get right on my nerves. After trying and failing with a few different jobs I decided that I would dive into the wonderful world of nurseries. A world full of sick, wee and poo. Now I know what you are thinking, aren’t nurseries for women? If you were to go into a nursery, you would certainly assume so. Not a man in…
