Blogmas Day Five: Christmas Questions With… Lorna

Yesterday I wrote about my plans for Christmas this year. You can check that out here!

I thought that it would be a great idea for Blogmas to interview some bloggers and find out what makes their Christmas so special. For this one I asked the lovely Lorna who I’ve only recently connected with on Twitter, but has quickly become a good friend. She writes a fantastic blog about cosmetics and writes reviews on cafes and restaurants, plus tips for some great recipes. You can find all of her information at the end of this post.

1) What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

What I love about the season is that everyone becomes a little more selfless. More people give to the homeless for example. As I’ve gotten older, it has become more about giving to others rather than receiving gifts myself. I like to see others smiling, even if it means I buy a hot chocolate for someone who is unfortunately sleeping on the streets. As well as giving to others, it also gives me an excuse to drink copious amounts of Mulled Wine and I’m always down for that!

2) What’s your favourite Christmas song?

‘Baby it’s Cold Outside’ will always be a festive favourite of mine.

3) Favourite Christmas movie?

‘Christmas Vacation’ has long been a favourite of mine. It’s a seriously underrated film. It contains just the right amount of festiveness, whilst also capturing how a family filled Christmas doesn’t always go to plan. Starring Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, as well as Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki, it adds an immensely hilarious comical aspect to an already brilliant film. If you enjoy the cheese of an 80’s movie, but also love the festive period, then this is the film to take a chance on.

4) What family traditions do you have over the Christmas period?

We don’t really have a tradition on Christmas Day, however we always go and get our Christmas tree as a family. We have always had a real tree, I have childhood memories of opening presents with the aroma of sweet pine in the air. During Christmas, your tree becomes the focal point of your house, so we like to pick one together. If you also like to have real trees, you’ll know that every single one is unique and you’ll never have another one like it, so we make the decision as a family. We go to Sherwood Pines every year, buy a tree and get a hot chocolate and a sausage roll in the café and it’s been that way for as long as I can remember!

5) What’s the strangest present you have ever received?

Last year I got a gadget which allows you to de-bobble your clothes. You know those annoying little balls of fabric which can form and stick to your jumpers or your flannel pyjamas for example? Well that gadget will get rid of those little balls. Useful I know, but a tad random!

6) How did you spend last Christmas?

Last Christmas was a chilled one. We went to a carol concert at our local church on Christmas Eve (as we do every year), spent Christmas Day opening presents and eating all the food (of course, who doesn’t?) and then I spent Boxing Day with my boyfriend’s family which was lovely. We don’t like to be busy between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, so it suited us perfectly!

7) Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?

I don’t really make resolutions as I know there will be something I won’t stick to and then I’ll feel as though I’ve failed. But there’s one I make every year and that’s to lose some more weight. I’m already two stone lighter than I was about four/five years ago, but it would be nice to shed a few more pounds. So we will see!
Thank you so much to Lorna for being involved. You can find all of her social media links below, I highly recommend following her.
