Product Review – Roarin’ Rainforest Jumperoo

The Fisher Price Roarin’ Rainforest Jumperoo was bought for us by my mum and it’s been so good for us that I’ve decided to write this review about it. I can’t fault this product in any way and I would recommend any parent with small children to go out and get one. When we first set it up I had no idea how popular this toy was going to be. Usually kids get bored after a while and move on to the next flashing bouncy toy they see but with the Jumperoo it has been very different. My 4 month old son Austin absolutely loves it and plays in it…

Why Is My Baby Always Crying?

When you are a new parent and you bring home your brand new baby, you would expect that it’s all fun and games from here on in. You’ll be spending your days playing with them and making so many beautiful memories. Wrong. Being a parent is bloody hard work and it’s not always going to be as glamorous as first expected. There’s going to be times when you doubt yourself and times when being a parent is just too much to cope with. I’ve been through these feelings all in the first 3 months of my little boy being born. With Austin, we have been faced with so many problems.…

Why Being A Dad Is So Important To Me

Most guys have life ambitions such as having the flashiest cars, the biggest houses or getting that dream job that they’ve always wanted. These ambitions are great if you can achieve them, but that’s never been my goal in life. My life ambition is to be a good father and to raise my own family. Family has always been the most important thing to me. Materialistic objects are great and can bring a lot of joy into people’s lives, but it would never fully satisfy me. To really be happy, I wanted to have my own family. The start of this dream happened on the 19th September when Austin David…

    What Shocked Me About Fatherhood

Fatherhood. I thought it was going to be all fun and games. Spending hours playing peek-a-boo and singing lullabies. Standing over a moses basket whilst my baby slept peacefully. The reality however, was very different. There was definitely some false advertising somewhere along the line because being a parent is bloody hard work. Nothing like what I expected at all. Somebody should really suggest teaching this sort of stuff in schools so that everybody is aware of what they are getting themselves into. I bet that would reduce the amount of teenage pregnancies. Get rid of subjects like Design Tech and Religious Education and replace them with ‘What parenting is…

How To Survive With A Newborn Baby

So you’ve brought your baby home from the hospital and now it’s time for the real fun to start. You’ve put the car seat down, unpacked all the bags and sat down on the sofa. Okay, so now what do we do? It can be a scary moment for first time parents knowing that you have a little person living with you that you are now completely responsible for. Hopefully I can provide a few tips to make the experience a little less daunting.   Accept any help that is offered to you You may feel like you are putting people out by accepting their help but the truth is…

Welcome to the world…Austin David Yule

So the little guy had been baking away inside the womb for 9 very long months. 9 months that have provided tears, pain, fear and apprehension, and that was just from me! We’d spent hours in parenting classes, hundreds of pounds on baby gear and thousands of moments thinking about how amazing it will be when he arrives. Amy was due to be induced on Monday 25th September, the date was booked. We were convinced this would be the day. Our son, however, had other ideas. Just like his mum, he does things on his terms and waits for nobody’s permission. I had gone to work as normal on Tuesday…

    Antenatal Classes

So it’s nearly the end of the pregnancy now and it’s almost time to meet your baby. Before you can do this however, there is the small matter of attending antenatal classes. For anyone unaware of what these classes involve, they are basically classes teaching you how to be a parent. You’ll learn how to support your partner through labour, what to take to the hospital when the big day arrives and most importantly…what to do when the baby arrives! The first concept to get your head around is the fact that you will be experiencing these classes alongside another 10-15 pregnant couples, all as anxious and clueless as you…

5 Things To Expect In The Third Trimester

So we’ve made it through the first trimester with the morning sickness, and we’ve survived the second trimester with the bigger breasts and higher sex drive in your partner (that was a tough few months, not sure how I got through that) and we’ve finally made it to the third trimester. The calm before the storm, the countdown to takeoff, the home stretch. It’s nearly time for baby to make their arrival, and for you as the father to get your shit together. Here’s a few things to expect during the third trimester…   1. Bump’s Getting Big At this point of the pregnancy, you can expect your partner’s bump…

    13 Weeks To Go!

It’s been another eventful couple of weeks since my last post. Never a dull moment in my life! From watching my pregnant girlfriend melt in the heat to trying to rescue her from the bathroom, it’s always an entertaining time with Amy. All whilst our baby grows more and more every day. Heatwave So recently we’ve experienced a bit of a heatwave. I use the word heatwave very lightly. In this country three days of sun classes as a heatwave. We all go slightly insane when the sun comes out. But then of course, we have to moan about how hot it is as well. It’s the British way. With…

    15 weeks to go!

So this blog entry is going to be a little different. Rather than choosing a random topic, I’ve decided that I’m going to be writing a weekly recap of what’s going on in my life. This is mainly because I’ve completely run out of topics to write about, and thought it would be good to share how exciting my week has been. My thriving social life, extravagant adventures and wild night outs should keep you all entertained! Ha! What a lie, I’m hoping my days of lounging on the sofa, being picked on by my pregnant girlfriend and nights in watching Love Island are enough. New Toy The most excited…
